INTRODUCTION: Counselling Cell is set up at Directorate of School Education Jammu in response to directions from Administrative Department for co-ordinating guidance and counselling activities of school going children. Besides undertaking guidance and counselling activities, the cell is actively engaged in co-ordinating child protection activities in schools. At present the cell is having four members and is being headed by Mr.Romesh Kumar, Sr.Lecturer Psychology, having Professional Qualification and experience in the field of guidance and Counselling.
VISION:Psychological sensitization of Students, Teachers, Parents and school administrators for Happy Schooling, Safe Childhood, Holistic development, enhancement of their overall well–being for primary prevention of psychosocial problems.
MISSION: Aim of counselling Cell is to provide guidance and counselling to students, consultation and training to staff and school administrators of Schools of Jammu Division to facilitate adjustment, holistic development, protection, retention and enhanced well-Being of students for primary prevention of psychosocial problems.
ACTIVITIES BEING TAKEN IN A PHASED MANNER.
Psychological, Counselling, Group Counselling Tele-Counselling, Career Counselling. Psychological consultancy to teachers, Crisis intervention, School visits, Mental health awareness, Workshops in Schools, Open houses in Schools, Child Protection activities, Guidance needs assessment, Preparation of material related to Counselling, Child protection, Dissemination of material related to Counselling, Child protection, Collaboration with other stakeholders, Awareness about adolescent education etc.
